Apollo Theater Education Program Presents

Professional Learning

Intersections of Art and Performance

Tuesday, November 7 at 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Join The Studio Museum in Harlem and the Apollo Theater as we explore connections between music and visual art. This program is a day–long professional learning workshop that will consider the ways in which music and art can be catalysts for a creative teaching practice.

Inquiry–based discussions in Fictions and We Go as They: Artists in Residence 2016–17 followed by a hands–on workshop led by the Apollo will explore how the interplay between music and visual art can connect ideas of identity, expression, and innovation. These gallery conversations will inspire educators to create their own projects using sound, movement, and writing to investigate personal and curricula connections.

This workshop will provide strategies for meeting general subject and arts standards. K–12 Educators from all disciplines are welcome and breakfast and lunch will be provided.
