Professional Learning: Between the World and Me in the Classroom
Wednesday, October 2 | 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
$15 per person (includes workshop, light refreshments, and all materials)
Through hands-on activities and discussion, we will explore how to integrate Ta-Nehisi Coates’s Between the World and Me into the classroom curriculum. Together using elements from both the book and the Apollo Theater’s groundbreaking theatrical event, we will develop strategies to connect your students to this work’s biggest questions surrounding race and American history. By gaining a deeper understanding of the themes inside of this profound work, your students will learn to make connections between the societal issues raised in Coates’s writing and their own personal experiences. Recommended for educators who read or are considering reading the book with their MS or HS students.
