Historic Tours

The legendary Apollo Theater—the soul of American culture—plays a vital role in cultivating emerging artists and launching legends. Since its founding, the Apollo has served as a center of innovation and a creative catalyst for Harlem, the city of New York, and the world. With music at its core, the Apollo’s programming extends to dance, theater, spoken word, and more.

On this virtual tour, you will explore the legendary history of the Apollo Theater and gain behind-the-scenes access to this iconic venue. This tour connects the past, present and future through the entertaining and inspiring storytelling of Billy “Mr. Apollo” Mitchell. In addition to historic photos there will be many video and interactive experiences to enjoy on this tour.

By Reservation Only
Tour reservations are offered to groups consisting of 20 people or more people based on availability.
Individuals and smaller groups can join an existing tour if one is scheduled on your preferred date.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
11am, 1pm and 3pm *Based on availability

Wednesday
11am only *Based on availability

Saturday and Sunday
11am & 1pm *Based on availability

The Apollo is a working theater and tours are often scheduled around the various productions.

Each tour is one hour in length.
