The Apollo Theater in collaboration with Ballet Hispánico presents a trio of works that draw upon the dynamism and versatility of the nation’s premier Latino dance company. The world premiere of Línea Recta by Belgian-Colombian choreographer, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, pairs the hallmark passion of flamenco dance with innovative and intricate partnering, performed to live Spanish classical guitar. Latin lounge meets spontaneous combustion in Spaniard Gustavo Ramirez Sansano’s quirky yet joyful Flabbergast, set to the music of Juan García Esquivel. In Danzón, Ballet Hispánico’s Cuban-American Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro takes this traditional and quintessentially Cuban dance form and reinvents it with contemporary language to construct a joyous celebration of music and movement.
