About The Show

Apollo Music Cafe: Killiam Shakespeare

Curated by Soul Factory Presents

A constantly colorful and “changing pattern or sequence of objects or elements” defines the essence of a Kaleidoscope, which in comparison describes the dynamic and critically-acclaimed band, Killiam Shakespeare. Led by music duo Steve Mckie (drummer/producer) and Corey Bernhard (keys/producer), the band is comprised of a unique collective of diverse musicians (electric guitar Simon Martinez and Anthony Decarlo, and percussion Aaron Draper), that formed a creative element musically fused with the various genres they are influenced by, such as jazz, funk, hip-hop, R&B and soul. The name “Killiam Shakespeare” is derived from two perspectives: “Killiam” an inventive word coined by Mckie and Bernhard, as an expression or urban vernacular to forcefully impact the airwaves musically, by “slaying it”. The second perspective, “Shakespeare” is from their intellectual influence by the historic playwright, William Shakespeare from his famous quote from “Romeo & Juliet” Go wisely and slowly. Those who rush stumble and fall.
