With its almost annual presentations the Jewel Box Revue during the 1960s and 70s, the Apollo was one of many venues in Harlem to highlight Queer culture and contributions to the arts and entertainment. From the Harlem Renaissance to the Harlem Balls, historian John Reddick explores the rich and influential legacy of Queer culture in Harlem, the venues, artists, and the purveyors.
