Audition for the chance to perform on the World-Famous Apollo Theater stage when the Producers of Amateur Night at the Apollo come to New Orleans during the 2017 Essence Festival presented by Coca-Cola.

This special New Orleans Audition is open to SINGERS ONLY ages 18 and over. Those chosen from the audition will win a chance to perform on the Essence Mainstage and all expense paid trip to NYC for two (2) and the chance to perform on stage during the September 21 special Making A Star edition of Amateur Night at the Apollo. See below for additional prizes!

Singers only. Ages 18 or older. Only the first 300 acts will be seen.

Audition Requirements

•  Solo singers only (no duets or other forms of performance)

• Each contestant will have up to 90 seconds to audition.
• Auditions are open to anyone who does not have a contract with a major recording label, television or film studio.
• There will not be a band on site.  Singers may bring a CD or perform a cappella.
• If bringing a CD for the audition, it cannot be in CD-RW format.
• All auditions should be in good taste and with no profanity (including the "N" word).
• This special edition of Amateur Night is not part of the regular 2016-17 Amateur Night series.
• Auditions are on a “first come, first served” basis and only the first 300 acts will be seen

Prizes include:

•  Opportunity to perform on the World-Famous Apollo stage during a special Making a Star edition of Amateur Night at the Apollo
• Opportunity to perform on the Essence Mainstage during the 2016 Essence Festival presented by Coca Cola
• All expenses paid trip (air/hotel/ground transportation) for two (2) to New York City
• Appearance in online webisodes produced by the Apollo
• Private session with the Producers of Amateur Night
•  Music recording session in New York City
