The goal of the Apollo Theater Academy (ATA) is to position young creatives of color as architects of artistic change in emerging fields. This spring the ATA program presents a special program for young adults interested in digital storytelling.

Digital Collective (DC) explores digital storytelling through a wealth of multimedia platforms including essays and memoirs, graphic design, podcasting, production design, videography, photography, and more.

This program will teach you how to tell compelling digital stories, and will provide the opportunity to learn from professionals who are excelling in creative industries. 

Apply to the Digital Collective if you are...

  • a high school student in the 10th or 11th grade
  • interested in the power of storytelling through a variety of digital mediums
  • a multi talented creative
  • have an interest in learning about careers in digital production
  • live in one of the five boroughs of NYC
  • enjoy working on projects as part of a team

Students will receive a stipend at the conclusion of the Spring 2022 program.

Instructional sessions will be delivered remotely for the majority of the program.​ Every student accepted into the Spring 2022 Digital Collective program will be provided with the equipment and supplies necessary to participate fully. 

IMPORTANT DATES

The Digital Collective will meet weekly Saturday, March 19th through Saturday, May 21st, from 10am to 5pm. Only applicants who can commit to attending the entire program will be considered.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 13th: Application Deadline
All  completed applications must be submitted  no later than 10:00pm EST on February 13th, 2022. Late applications will not be accepted. 

3rd WEEK OF FEBRUARY: 
Group interviews will occur during after school hours, Tuesday through Thursday; February 15th -17th and Saturday February 19th, 11am to 1:30pm.  Candidates will be contacted using the email address noted in their application.

TUESDAY, MARCH 15TH:
Mandatory parent/guardian orientation; if accepted to the program, parents or legal guardian  will be required to attend the orientation with the participant.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16TH:
Mandatory onboarding for accepted applicants. If accepted to the program, you will be required to attend the onboarding.

SATURDAY, MARCH 19TH:
Mandatory Student Orientation

SATURDAY, MAY 21ST:
Final Presentation

Digital Collective will not be in session on Saturday, April 16, 2022.
