Apollo Theater Academy

In addition to its rich history in furthering the careers of entertainers, the Apollo has a legacy of providing tangible opportunities for technicians, designers and other behind-the-scenes industry professionals. The Apollo Theater Academy advances this legacy through seminars, workshops, internships and events designed to increase knowledge of careers in the performing arts and entertainment fields such as technical stage production and arts management.

HIGH SCHOOL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Apollo Theater Academy High School Internship Program provides NYC high school seniors with opportunities for personal and professional development as they explore non-performance careers in the arts and entertainment industries. Through hands-on training and career development workshops, interns experience a real world work environment and connect with industry professionals.

Digital Collective

Digital Collective is an 8 Week program that provides high school students with opportunities for professional and personal development as they explore careers in Technical Stage and Digital Production. Students will learn about the use of digital media in live and recorded productions and how lighting design, videography, audio engineering, production design and live streaming come together in the creation of virtual events.

In-School Career Seminars

In-School Career Seminars offer students the opportunity to interact with business and creative professionals from the performing arts and entertainment industries. Seminars take place on-site at selected high schools and focus on such topics as marketing and public relations, entertainment law, artist management and technical production. Students are engaged through small group and project-based learning activities and gain insight into behind-the-scenes careers.

Career Panels

Career Panels at the Apollo feature interviews and panel discussions with theater, music, and media industry professionals, with a focus on professions behind the scenes in the arts and entertainment industries. Events are free and open to the public and take place on-site at the Apollo Theater.

Apollo Young Producers

A collective of Apollo Theater Academy Alumni, the Young Producers create and develop events to connect young artists to the Apollo Theater and provide a creative space for collaboration. While working to provide an opportunity for youth to showcase their work, the Young Producers learn to produce and manage events under the tutelage of seasoned arts and entertainment professionals.
