Stories Our Elders Tell Us
As part of our partnership with the Harriet Tubman Learning Center in Harlem, 4th and 5th grade students have been interviewing and collecting oral histories from some of the Significant Elders of Harlem, a community outreach group focused on empowering and passing down knowledge to younger generations. This five-episode podcast series takes a look at five of the elders as they sit down with students and discuss their upbringing in Harlem, perseverance during the fight for racial equality, and everything in between. Their stories were collected by 4th and 5th grade students from C.S 154, the Harriet Tubman Learning Center in Harlem between 2008 - 2017.
