Remote Learning Workshops

CONNECT YOUR CLASSROOM TO THE SOUL OF AMERICAN CULTURE!

Apollo Theater Remote Learning Workshops offer a diverse selection of interactive experiences in dance, theater, and music. The 50 - 60 minute sessions are available at 10:00 AM EST, 1:00 PM EST and 4:00 PM EST. Please review the programs listed below.

To schedule a workshop for your group, please click the “Schedule Here” button next to the workshop(s) of your choice to complete an inquiry form. Workshops must be scheduled a minimum of 3 weeks in advance, based on availability, and can accommodate up to 30 students. Workshops are presented on ZOOM.

Workshops for NYC Schools: $175

Workshops for Schools/Organizations outside of the NYC Five Boroughs: $200

Hip-Hop Dance

 
This virtual workshop will engage students in popular Hip Hop party dances of the 80s and 90s, through both discussion and movement. Students will explore and connect the origins and influences of the street, funk, and club styles that helped formulate the dance element of Hip Hop Culture. We will focus on bouncing, rocking, and grooving- the foundations of the styles and techniques of Hip Hop dance.
(Grades 3 - 12)

Historic Social Dances of Harlem

Historic Social Dances of Harlem will introduce students to the social dances performed in Harlem during the 1920’s and 1930’s. In this virtual workshop, students will experience dance warm ups and learn historic social dances of Harlem.

Rhythm Explorations

 
 

Rhythm Explorations

 
Rhythm Explorations is a creative, virtual expedition through the history and progression of the rhythmic sounds of the African diaspora, accompanied by the use of various percussion instruments.
(Grades K -5)

Theater Explorations

 
Theater Explorations will take students through a series of fun, virtual games and activities, to learn the storytelling tools of an actor using engaging techniques such as gesture and facial expression to discover how to tell a story without using their voice.

We Sing! Ella Fitzgerald

 
Students will go on a virtual, musical journey of Ella Fitzgerald. Students will learn about this Apollo Legend's unique musical contributions to the Apollo Theater, and the world, and learn to sing one of her famous songs.
(Grades Pre-K - 2)
